Something to do for the rainy summer days (!?!)

I have been doing some research on 21st century classrooms and learning. I am fascinated by what some people are doing in education in North America. There is a ton of information out there. I encourage all of you to do some reading in the area over the summer.

If you type in "21st centruy learning" or something close to this, you will get a long list of sites that will make for interesting reading.

Many of us know a lot about this topic, other less. We (as teachers) will only continue to get better if we expand our knowledge base and familiarity with the changing technology around us.

So ...................................

busy, busy, busy!

The school is a busy, busy place. No wonder people get tired. There are musical performances, track meets, exam preparations, swim lessons, field trips, preparations for next year, and the list goes on.

We have such a dedicated, hard working staff that I believe it rubs off on the students - they are also very busy and many are successful at what they are doing. I think it is great!

Music performances - May 27

Wow! What a great performance given last night by the elementary students, the Elementary Choir, the High School Chorus, the grade 7 band and the grade 8 - 10 band.

I was amazed at how good the bands sounded. I especially enjoyed the upbeat songs they played. Both choirs sounded very good. The classes were very entertaining and did a good job performing.

Congratulations to Mrs. Myschuk, Miss Muirhead, and Carl and Dianne Jahns for the work they did with these groups.

I hope everyone enjoted them.

Volleyball for 2009

I know, I know! It is only mid-May but I am already preparing for volleyball season. We will start praticing in June - scheduling around meetings.

We are already entered in Mega-Volley (J.R. Robson, Vermilion) and St. Jerome's (Vermilion). Our tournament is already full and there are two teams on the waiting list.

I hope to be able to get into a couple of other tournaments in October and early November.

Track and Field

The weather has not been very nice - especially since it is track meet season. Maybe we should have winter olympic meets at this time of year.

The high school area meet is scheduled for Thursday now - in Stettler. It is supposed to be warmer.
